Drink & Draw Maastricht is an informal life drawing event where artists, students, hobbyists and curious beginners come together to draw from live models in a relaxed social setting. Life drawing trains hand-eye coordination and is an essential skill for painters, sculptors and many other art forms.

The sessions are not classes, but casually focused on observation, creativity and connection. By bringing people together around a usually solitary activity, which is drawing, Drink & Draw creates an accessible cultural space and a place to meet other artlovers.

All skill levels are welcome. Models are clothed. Free entry.
Bring your sketchbook, grab a drink, and draw with us.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Participants take a seat in the audience. There are two models who will be posing, alternating between solo poses and together. The host will always start with an introduction and housekeeping announcements.
The poses are timed, just like normal life drawing sessions. We start with short (2 min) poses to warm up. Half-way there is a 20 minute break. Towards the end of the evening there will be longer poses (15 min)
The host will inform you of pose length and time left.

  • No.
    While we know traditional life drawing sessions feature nudity we have taken the decision to not feature nude models. Drink & Draw is not a traditional setting;
The combination of free entry, the possibility to order alcohol, and the venue being a public space all have taken play in this decision.
If you are looking for nude modeling sessions we recommend a couple artists who offer courses here.

  • Of course, no worries. As long as you don’t disturb the session. Just enter the quietly and find a seat.
Ask our bar staff if you have trouble finding a spot.

  • The M13 is wheelchair accessible, up until the tribune that divides the main room in half. There is a toilet in the hallway. Please ask for help from the bar staff in finding a spot in case it’s unclear.
We advise you to come when the doors open (19.30) to secure the best spot.

  • Sometimes we hire a photographer or have a reporter for an article. We will always communicate this during the start of the session, and ask if you are comfortable or not.

Most pictures will not feature someone heads-on.

  • At this point there is a consistent team of models and volunteers, but you can always express your interest through the contact form or via instragram.

  • If you can hold a pencil, you can draw!

If you mean that you can’t draw well .. that takes years and years of practice. Try to have fun and cut yourself some slack while on your art-journey.
